About the Role
Kimberley Fire Systems (KFS) is seeking an experienced and motivated Fire Systems Technician to join our growing team in Broome.
As the lead technician on site, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing, fault-finding, upgrades, and repair of fire detection and alarm systems. This hands-on, field-based role offers significant variety, with work spanning government facilities, commercial infrastructure, mining operations, and some of Australia's most remote communities.
You'll travel throughout the Kimberley region, responding to priority call-outs, delivering practical solutions, and ensuring essential fire protection systems remain compliant and operational. During the wet season, some locations are accessible only by air, making this an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys diverse and rewarding work environments.
Working both independently and as part of a close-knit team, you'll also coordinate site activities, liaise with suppliers, and share your knowledge and expertise with fellow technicians.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, upgrade, troubleshoot and repair fire detection and alarm systems
- Perform routine inspection, testing, servicing and maintenance of essential fire systems and equipment
- Conduct fault-finding and provide effective solutions to system defects
- Respond to priority breakdowns and emergency call-outs
- Travel throughout the Kimberley region servicing a diverse range of sites
- Manage works in office while maintaining high safety and quality standards
- Liaise professionally with clients, contractors and suppliers
- Support and mentor team members through knowledge sharing and collaboration
About You
To be successful in this role, you'll bring a strong technical background in fire protection systems along with a proactive, customer-focused approach.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong working knowledge of AS 1670 and AS 1851-2012
- Proven experience in fire system inspection, testing, servicing and/or installation
- Experience installing and configuring: Ampac, Fusion, Notifier and Simplex Panels
- Ability to comply with WHS requirements across various client sites
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Reasonable level of physical fitness
- Competency using tablets, mobile devices and field service applications
Licences & Qualifications
The following licences and qualifications are required or preferred:
- Open Cabling, EWP, High Risk Work Licence
- Current and unrestricted manual driver's licence
- National Police Clearance (or ability to obtain)
Highly Regarded
- Special hazards and suppression systems service experience
- Electrical Licence
- FPAS Accreditation
- Certificate III in Fire Protection
