SCGA is looking for a motivated 1st Year Apprentice to join our small team working across commercial construction projects throughout Perth.

We specialise in the installation of commercial aluminium windows, doors and glazing systems on commercial buildings as well as high-end residential projects.

This is a hands-on role with plenty of variety. You will work alongside experienced tradesmen and learn all aspects of the glazing trade, including:

- Commercial aluminium window and door installation
- Glass installation and glazing
- Shopfronts and architectural aluminium systems
- Commercial framing and frame fitting
- Door hardware and associated fit-off
- Measuring, setting out and use of levels
- Sealants and finishing
- Safe glass handling
- Use of hand and power tools
- Residential window and door retrofitting
- Shower screen installation
- Mirror installation
- Reglazing and glass replacement work
- General residential glazing and repair work
- General construction and some carpentry-related skills

This role will provide genuine exposure across the full glazing trade – from large commercial aluminium and glazing installations through to high-end residential work, window and door retrofits, shower screens, mirrors, reglazing, glass replacement and repair work.

You will also gain experience with aluminium framing, doors, hardware, measuring, setting out, sealants, construction techniques and some carpentry-related skills.

The aim is to develop the successful applicant into a highly capable, well-rounded tradesperson with skills that go well beyond basic glazing.





The position would ideally be completed as a Glass & Glazing Apprenticeship, however we are also open to discussing a Carpentry Apprenticeship with the right applicant due to the large amount of crossover in the work we carry out.

ABOUT YOU

We are mainly looking for someone with the right attitude.

You must:

- Have a current driver’s licence and reliable transport
- Be reliable and punctual
- Be physically capable and comfortable working in a construction setting
- Be eager to learn
- Have a good work ethic and be willing to get stuck in
- Be able to listen, follow instructions and work safely

Previous experience using basic hand and power tools is highly regarded, whether through work experience, a pre-apprenticeship, school, hobbies or working on things at home.

You do not need previous glazing experience.

Recent school leavers are strongly encouraged to apply.

We are looking for someone who wants to learn a trade properly and develop into a skilled, well-rounded tradesperson, not simply someone looking for a short-term job.

ABOUT US

SCGA is a small commercial glass and aluminium installation business working on a wide range of projects around Perth.

Because we are a small crew, you will work directly alongside experienced tradesmen and get genuine hands-on experience across commercial glazing, aluminium installation, residential glazing and general construction work.

There is plenty of opportunity to learn, take on more responsibility and develop a broad range of practical trade skills.
