Tongala

How many electricians does it take to grow a tomato?

Turns out, at this scale, at least one very good one.

Because you didn't become an electrician because you had a burning passion for changing light fittings.

You got into it to figure things out.

Faults. Systems. Machinery. The stuff that makes you scratch your head for a minute before you work out what's actually going on.

Yet somehow, somewhere along the way, the interesting stuff can become the same stuff.

Same plant.

Same breakdowns.

Same machinery.

Same problems you've fixed 47 times already.

So, here's something a little different.

Behind the tomatoes at this operation in Tongala sits robotics, automation, climate controls, heating, irrigation, water systems, 240V, DC and enough moving parts to keep a good electrical brain occupied for quite some time.

They’re looking for a Maintenance Manager to take ownership of keeping the whole show moving.

Maybe you're an industrial electrician who's naturally become the person everyone relies on and you're ready to step up.

Maybe you're already leading maintenance in a large manufacturing plant, but you're ready for a completely different beast.

Either way, you probably don't need another version of the job you've already got.

You'll lead a small maintenance crew, stay across work orders,

solve problems and help shift the maintenance function from reactive to proactive.

In other words:

Less waiting for things to break. More making sure they don't.

Your electrical knowledge will do plenty of heavy lifting, but that's only the starting point.

You'll get exposure to automation, robotics, Priva glasshouse controls, irrigation, water management and a current CMMS.

Some of it you'll know.

Some of it you won't. That's the appeal.

They're happy to teach you the specialist stuff.

What they need is strong electrical and fault-finding knowledge, experience supervising people and someone who communicates when there's a problem rather than hoping it'll magically disappear.

Culture-wise, it's refreshingly simple.

Say what you're going to do.

Do it.

If something goes wrong, speak up.

Take ownership. Back your team. Treat people properly.

There's a strong six-figure package, genuine specialist training and plenty of opportunity to broaden your skills as the operation grows.

You could keep getting better at fixing the same things you've been fixing for years.

Or you could find yourself some new problems.
