Volare Recruitment
Brisbane
- Client-facing role combining design, coordination and project delivery
- Brisbane Bayside location
- $100K–$130K depending on experience
Are you an experienced Interior Designer who loves the creative side of design but is equally good at making things happen?
Are you highly organised, confident dealing with clients and someone who genuinely follows things through?
Our client is an established and successful business operating within the commercial design and fit-out space. Due to continued growth, they are now looking for an experienced Project Interior Designer to join their Design team in this newly created role.
This is a little different from a traditional Interior Designer position. By the time a project reaches you, the initial concept, layout, overall look and feel, budget and 3D design will largely have been established and agreed with the client. Your role is to take that vision and bring all the detail together, working closely with the client and wider Design team to move the project through to a complete, approved and construction-ready handover.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Taking ownership of projects through the detailed design and create stage
- Working with an established concept and maintaining the original design intent throughout
- Guiding clients through colours, finishes, materials, fixtures, furniture and interior selections
- Preparing and coordinating samples and detailed selections
- Developing and refining existing designs and 3D concepts where required
- Using Revit and Enscape to review, develop and present designs
- Running client design meetings and becoming their key point of contact throughout this stage
- Providing advice and confidently guiding clients when something may not work from either a design or practical perspective
- Identifying opportunities to enhance the finished project or offer additional options where appropriate (ie tweak final finishes)
- Coordinating with the wider architectural and documentation team to ensure drawings accurately reflect the approved design and selections
- Coordinating consultants and other third parties as required
- Managing relevant approvals through landlords, certifiers and other authorities
- Keeping projects, decisions and approvals moving within agreed timelines
- Ensuring all design, selections, documentation and approvals are complete before handover to the Construction team
- Taking genuine ownership of your projects from beginning to end
About you:
We're looking for someone who combines design capability with exceptional organisation and follow-through. You don't need to be the person who wants to completely reinvent every design that lands on your desk. The concept and vision will already be established. What you do need is the design experience and creative flair to understand that vision, develop the final detail and then have the drive and organisational skills to make sure it is delivered exceptionally well. Ideally, you will have:
- Solid experience within commercial Interior Design and/or fit-out
- Strong Revit skills – you will need to be a confident user
- Experience with Enscape or similar 3D visualisation
- A great eye for colour, materials, finishes, fixtures and furniture
- A good understanding of commercial-grade materials,
finishes and practical design considerations
- Solid client-facing experience and excellent communication skills
- The confidence to lead client discussions and provide clear advice
- The ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong organisational and follow-up skills – if you say you're going to do something, you do it!
- A commercial mindset and an understanding that great design also needs to work within a budget
- The confidence to make decisions and keep things moving
- A self-motivated approach and the ability to work without being constantly managed
- A genuine sense of ownership and pride in what you deliver
The environment and benefits for working here include:
- Join an established Design team, working alongside both local and offshore designers
- Work closely with the wider business and Construction teams to see your projects come to life
- Brisbane Bayside location – no daily commute into the CBD!
- Predominantly in-house role with much of your client contact able to be managed via Teams
- Standard 38-hour working week
- Flexibility around start and finish times - early finish on Fridays
- Genuine autonomy to manage your own projects and workload
- Work within a business with strong values
- Great salary based on experience
Most importantly, they're looking for someone who can be handed a project, take the bull by the horns and make sure everything that needs to happen, happens. If you're an experienced Interior Designer looking for a role where you can combine your design skills with client interaction, project ownership and the satisfaction of seeing everything come together, we'd love to hear from you.
