An exciting prospect exists for a highly motivated Practical Arts (Media and Design) Technician to support teaching and student learning within the Practical Arts Learning Area. This important role requires a highly organised, efficient and detail-oriented professional with strong time management, problem-solving and communication skills. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with teachers and students while managing media administration, equipment and departmental resources. Flexibility with work hours may be required. This position is for two days a week. (An additional third day is required in the lead up and organisation of the end of year showcase in Terms 3 and 4). Days and times are flexible and can be adjusted in consultation with the department to meet operational needs.
The successful applicant will be:
- Highly skilled, motivated and knowledgeable in Media and Design, with demonstrated experience in post- production and editing using Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Premiere Pro, Illustrator and InDesign. Skills in Photoshop and After Effects are desirable.
- Technically proficient in media production, with confidence operating, maintaining and troubleshooting cameras, audio, lighting and studio equipment.
- Highly organised and efficient, with strong time-management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks, manage competing responsibilities and meet deadlines.
- A confident problem-solver, able to independently troubleshoot equipment, software and digital workflow issues and identify practical solutions.
- Detail-oriented and accurate, maintaining a high standard of presentation, documentation and record keeping.
- A strong communicator, able to work collaboratively and professionally with teachers and students.
- Experienced in managing production studios, departmental resources and equipment systems, including loans, storage, maintenance and record keeping.
- Efficient in researching, sourcing, purchasing and managing materials, equipment and resources, and preparing student work for displays and exhibitions.
- Proficient in IT and digital workflows, including Microsoft Office, budgeting, documentation and administrative systems.
- Committed to supporting teachers and student learning through resource preparation, technical assistance, software troubleshooting and appropriate project support.
- A collaborative, reliable and adaptable team member who can also work independently and show initiative.
- Confident in planning and coordinating the installation and dismantling of exhibitions, displays and the College's end-of-year showcase.
- Professional, ethical and respectful in practice, with a commitment to the Catholic ethos and Presentation traditions of the College.
The successful applicant will also have a warm and welcoming disposition, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a demonstrated ability for self-directed work, flexibility, creativity and excellent attention to detail.
