The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Psychologist - Senior (Older Persons Mental Health Community) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 14 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

- Deliver high level clinical services in accordance with professional standards including the Australia Psychologist Society Code of Ethics
- Provide high level clinical psychology services including psychological assessment, complex case formulation, and clinical interventions that support in the care of case managed consumers
- Manage a case load of consumers to access outpatient psychotherapy or other psychological care including consultancy service for treating teams relating to older people with challenging behaviours
- Utilise independent clinical reasoning and professional judgement requiring minimum supervision in the selection of appropriate psychological treatments, psychometric measures and preparation of psychological reports and high-level recommendation

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

- A tertiary degree in Psychology
- AHPRA Registration
- Driver Licence
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for current employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

- Temporary part time (45.60 hr per fortnight, up to 12 months)
- Base salary ranging from $64.64 - $69.55 per hour

Mental Health and Specialist Services provide integrated hospital and community specialised mental health assessment and treatment services across the age-spectrum. Our services aim to be consumer focused and recovery oriented. The Older Persons Mental Health Community Team service provides specialised, community-based multi-disciplinary services, including mental health assessment and treatment, for adults over the age of 65 years (>55 years for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Persons) who have a severe and complex mental illness, which is complicated by problems related to ageing.
