About the Role
We are looking for a highly organised Product Manager to lead the development and execution of the marketing strategy for Yamaha’s Portable Keyboard, Digital Piano and Synthesizer product categories. This role requires exceptional time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a clear strategic focus.
Reporting to the Marketing Manager – Piano and Keyboards, the Product Manager will be responsible for driving sales growth and profitability by generating market demand across both existing and new market segments. They will serve as the central hub for strategic planning and information sharing between the Marketing, Sales and Business Planning teams, while acting as an expert advisor to Yamaha distributors, dealers and end users.
Key duties and responsibilities of the role:
- Conduct market, customer and competitor analysis to identify trends, opportunities and risks
- Develop pricing strategies that maximise sales, profitability and competitive positioning
- Partner with Marketing and Sales to develop promotional and distribution strategies, with clear measures of success
- Manage accurate sales,
demand and inventory forecasts across the assigned product portfolio
- Monitor inventory levels and proactively manage stock within agreed parameters
- Maintain expert knowledge of assigned products, including key features, applications, customer needs, market trends and competitive positioning
- Deliver product training and support to internal teams, dealers and other external partners
- Support the planning and delivery of product launches, dealer events, trade shows and consumer events
- Contribute to Yamaha’s global strategy by sharing market insights, plans and performance with Yamaha Corporation Japan
Your skills and experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a sales or marketing role, ideally working with luxury products
- Minimum 3 years' industry experience with some keyboard product knowledge
- Professional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate information clearly and concisely
- Methodical worker with highly developed time management, problem solving and multi-tasking skills
- Accurate data entry skills and attention to detail
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated with the ability to build and manage relationships and work autonomously with minimal supervision
- Intermediate proficiency in the Microsoft Suite, especially Excel and Word
Valued but not essential:
- Marketing/Business degree or similar
- Ability to play a keyboard instrument at a level sufficient to confidently demonstrate key product features and functions
Other requirements:
- Some interstate and international travel may be required so must be able to freely travel and obtain relevant documentation (visa, passport etc) as necessary
- Must be eligible and able to obtain a Working With Children check as this may be required for some projects
