About the role

The Senior Electrical Engineer is a technical specialist within RACV Commercial Energy Solutions, responsible for developing compliant and commercially viable designs for solar, BESS, and EV charging projects in the sub-5MW market. The role ensures RACV CES produces high quality engineering outputs and clear, delivery ready handovers that support efficient project execution in the sub‑5MW market.

Acting as a key technical contributor across pre‑sale and delivery phases, the Senior Electrical Engineer provides expert guidance on system architecture, grid‑connection requirements, and technical risk management. The role leads DNSP application activities and works closely with Sales, Estimation, and Project Delivery to validate feasibility, shape strong solutions, and enable smooth project mobilisation.

Key responsibilities

- Provide senior technical leadership on key design decisions—covering equipment selection, system integration, constructability, and constraint resolution—to ensure solutions are safe, compliant, commercially sound, and delivery‑ready.

- Represent RACV CES as a technical expert in pre‑sale engagements, supporting Sales by articulating solution feasibility and positioning RACV CES as the trusted technical authority with B2B customers.

- Oversee the quality of engineering deliverables—including drawings, calculations, and specifications—by guiding junior engineers and producing or finalising complex design artefacts where required.

- Identify and manage technical risks early—including grid constraints,



protection settings, and fault levels—escalating and documenting mitigations as required.

About you

- Significant experience (typically 5+ years) in electrical engineering within the renewable energy, commercial solar, BESS, or related infrastructure sectors, with exposure to complex grid‑connected system design.

- Demonstrated experience delivering technical designs, managing DNSP connection processes, and working with OEMs, subcontractors, and consultants to execute compliant, buildable solutions.

- Deep technical expertise in PV, BESS, and EV charging system design, including grid‑connection requirements, protection settings, and complex electrical architecture development.

- Proven capability in managing DNSP applications and navigating regulatory, network, and standards‑based requirements to achieve timely, compliant connection approvals.

- Ability to travel across Victoria as well as interstate.
