About the role

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Health Information Services Officer to join our Health Information Services team.

In this important role, you will help ensure patient health records are accurately maintained, securely managed, and readily available to support clinical care and hospital operations.

Working within a collaborative workplace, you will be responsible for managing health records, scanning and indexing clinical documentation, processing information requests, and providing administrative support to the department. The role provides administrative support to the Clinical Coding team, including conducting daily ward rounds to collect records for coding priorities, maintaining coding databases, and managing coding-related inboxes to support the timely processing of health information.

The role is offered on a permanent full-time basis working 38 hours per week.

Shifts will be rostered between 6:00am and 4:00pm, Monday to Friday, in line with the department's operating hours.

Key responsibilities

- Maintaining accurate, complete and confidential patient health records.

- Retrieving, tracking, filing and archiving health records in accordance with departmental procedures.

- Preparing,



scanning and quality-checking documents within the Scanned Health Record System (SHRS).

- Processing requests for patient information in line with privacy legislation and hospital policies.

- Conducting daily ward rounds to collect patient records for coding, aged care and high-revenue purposes.

- Maintaining and updating the Coding Manager Query database.

- Monitoring and managing HealthLink and Coding inboxes.

- Supporting audits, quality activities and general administrative functions within the department.

Your skills and experience

To succeed in this role, you will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to effectively organise and prioritise your workload to meet deadlines in a busy environment.

You will be a proactive team member who can work both independently and collaboratively to achieve outcomes. Previous experience in a healthcare setting and familiarity with patient administration systems will be highly regarded, as will an understanding of continuous quality improvement and the flexibility to work a range of rostered and additional shifts when required.

- Salary: $71,352 to $77,022 plus 12% superannuation

- A permanent full-time position, working 38 hours a week
