About Balonne Shire:
The Balonne Shire is located along the beautiful Balonne River, just five hours' drive west of Brisbane on the QLD-NSW border. Balonne Shire Council has a dedicated team of 110+ staff and population of 4,500 people who live in the surrounding towns of St George, Thallon, Dirranbandi, Bollon, Nindigully, Mungindi and Hebel.
About the role
Responsible for the overall application, management and acquittal of all grant funding programs on behalf of Council for all projects approved under the Grant Policy and Project Governance Framework. To source and facilitate successful funding and grant applications for the provision of Council services and local community projects. Build the capacity of both Council and the wider community to successfully achieve grant funding. To ensure all milestone reports and acquittals are achieved in accordance with grant funding agreements. In addition, this position provides general executive and administrative assistance to the Director Finance & Corporate Services, including diary coordination, document preparation, meeting scheduling and correspondence management.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate and project manage Council's external funding applications including co-ordination of project funds, milestone reporting and acquittal of grant funds
- Undertake extensive research of funding opportunities from federal and state government programs and philanthropic sources
- Interpret funding programs and their respective guidelines and present to management and/or Council, as required
- Identify opportunities for projects from Council's Corporate and Operational Plans,
Project List and Capital and Operational Budgets to be funded by external sources
- Prepare project plans, risk assessments, gantt charts and other relevant documentation in accordance with funding guidelines
- Assist Project Managers / Officers to prepare project plans, budgets and project scheduling to meet eligible expenditure and project timelines as per funding guidelines
- Prepare monthly reports to the Senior Leadership Group and Council on successful and unsuccessful funding applications
- Coordinate and collate all milestone reports and submit via grant portals within funding timeframes
- Provide high quality, confidential and timely executive support to the Director Finance & Corporate Services
About you
- Certificate III Business Administration and/or equivalent work experience
- Knowledge or the ability to rapidly acquire the knowledge of funding programs available through state and federal programs as well as philanthropic trusts
- Knowledge or the ability to rapidly acquire the knowledge of administrative systems and practices relevant to the preparation of funding submissions and the administration of grants programs
- Excellent research skills and advanced skills in written communication/letter writing/report writing/submission writing
- Competent project management skills including ability to assist senior officers with project planning and reporting
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities, maintain confidentiality, and exercise sound judgement
- Minimum 2 years experience with grants application process or equivalent area

- Salary cash component – Level 3 - $76,233 per annum plus locality allowance of $1,945 per annum
- 19 day month (Monthly RDO)
- 5 weeks Annual Leave
