Port Adelaide

The Opportunity
Our client is an established leader in marine construction and dredging, delivering complex projects across South Australia and nationally.

We are seeking an experienced HSEQ Advisor to join its established safety team. Based at the company’s operational hub in Port Adelaide, this is a hands-on role requiring a visible presence across the yard and project sites five days per week.

You will work closely with project managers, supervisors, contractors and field crews to support safe operations, maintain compliance and continually improve health, safety, environmental and quality performance.

Marine experience is advantageous but not essential. Candidates from construction, civil infrastructure or comparable high-risk industries are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide practical HSEQ advice and support across fixed and project sites
- Attend daily pre-start meetings, including 7am starts, and Friday toolbox sessions
- Conduct workplace inspections, risk assessments and internal audits
- Review SWMS and support subcontractor screening, coordination and compliance
- Investigate incidents and near misses, identify root causes and track corrective actions
- Deliver HSEQ inductions, toolbox talks and employee training
- Maintain accurate records and reports using Skytrust
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes
- Assist with ISO, client and Federal Safety Commissioner audit requirements
- Support emergency preparedness, environmental compliance and continuous improvement initiatives

About You

- HSEQ experience within construction, civil infrastructure, heavy industry or another high-risk environment
- A Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety, or an equivalent qualification
- Lead Auditor certification in quality, health and safety, or environmental management systems
- Experience conducting audits, site inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations
- ICAM investigation qualification
- A current Construction White Card and C-class driver’s licence
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- The confidence to engage constructively with managers, supervisors, subcontractors and field crews
- The ability to balance site-based responsibilities with reporting and administration

Experience with marine construction, dredging, ports, cranes, lifting activities, ISO management systems, Federal Safety Commissioner requirements or subcontractor coordination will be highly regarded.

Location and Travel
The position is based in Port Adelaide and requires on-site attendance five days per week. The successful candidate must be willing to travel to regional South Australian project sites and occasionally work away from home for periods of one to two weeks.

The preferred candidate will be required to complete a pre-employment medical assessment and National Police Check, arranged by the company.

If you are a practical, site-focused HSEQ professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams and contributing to complex projects, we would welcome your application.
