ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a Process Engineer to join our National Engineering Team. The Process Engineer will provide process engineering expertise across the Water business, supporting the development of technical solutions, project opportunities and the performance of water and wastewater treatment systems nationally.
Working closely with the Technical Solutions Manager, regional project teams and other engineering disciplines, the role will support projects from early concept and tender development through to design, commissioning, and operational optimisation.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Technical solution development - Support the development of technically robust and commercially competitive treatment solutions for tenders and project opportunities.
- Process design - Develop treatment processes from concept and FEED through to detailed process design, including process calculations, PFDs, P&IDs;, process descriptions and design documentation.
- Equipment selection - Size and select process equipment and prepare technical specifications and datasheets.
- Technical assessment - Undertake technical reviews of designs, equipment selections, vendor submissions and treatment technologies.
- Process optimisation - Identify opportunities to improve treatment performance, reliability, operability and whole-of-life cost.
- Technical support - Provide specialist process engineering support for commissioning, troubleshooting and complex operational issues.
- Engineering assurance - Participate in SIDs, HAZOPs, design reviews, technical risk assessments and other engineering assurance activities.
- Trials & testing - Support laboratory, bench-scale and pilot trials to validate treatment approaches and emerging technologies.
- Standards & compliance - Ensure process designs comply with project requirements, relevant legislation, Australian Standards and industry good practice.
- Collaboration - Work closely with Project Development Managers, regional Delivery and Operations teams, Package Plants, suppliers and clients to deliver effective treatment solutions.
ABOUT YOU
You will be a Process Engineer with minimum 3 years experience or a strong technical interest in water and wastewater treatment, with the ability to apply sound engineering principles to develop practical and commercially effective treatment solutions.
To be considered for this position, you will possess:
- A Bachelor degree in Chemical, Process, Environmental or a related Engineering discipline.
- Experience or interest in water, wastewater, environmental or industrial process engineering.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to balance technical performance with practical and commercial considerations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed teams.
- A proactive approach to technical development, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
- Experience preparing or reviewing technical specifications,
datasheets and vendor submissions.
The following would be highly regarded:
- Experience developing or supporting treatment processes from concept through engineering design.
- Exposure to construction, commissioning, operations or troubleshooting of process plants
- Process engineering fundamentals, including process calculations, equipment sizing and preparation of process design documentation.
- Experience with one or more relevant treatment technologies, such as solids separation, filtration, adsorption, ion exchange, membranes or foam fractionation.
- An understanding of relevant Australian Standards, legislation and engineering practices.
