Mayfair Dental Care Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled and motivated Oral Health Therapist to join our growing dental practice in Manly West, QLD on a contract basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Oral Health Therapist who enjoys providing high-quality preventative and therapeutic care while working closely with a principal dentist and wider dental team.

A key component of this role will be to assess, manage and maintain patients' oral health, identify conditions requiring further treatment, and support the principal dentist by identifying patients who may benefit from more extensive restorative, periodontal, surgical or other dental treatment.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide comprehensive preventative and therapeutic oral health services within your registered scope of practice.

- Perform oral health assessments, periodontal assessments and screenings to identify dental disease and conditions requiring further treatment.

- Provide professional dental hygiene services, including scaling, debridement and polishing, as appropriate to your scope of practice.

- Identify patients requiring further assessment or more extensive treatment and communicate appropriate findings and recommendations to the principal dentist.

- Work collaboratively with the principal dentist to develop appropriate patient care pathways and treatment plans.

- Educate patients on effective oral hygiene practices, dietary habits, periodontal health and preventative care.

- Administer local anaesthetics and provide restorations where permitted within your scope of practice, registration and relevant regulatory requirements.

- Take dental radiographs and intraoral photographs as required and within appropriate training and authorisation.

- Maintain accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date patient records and clinical documentation.

- Monitor patients' oral health and provide appropriate follow-up and preventative care.





- Assist with patient communication and coordination to ensure a smooth transition between preventative care and treatment with the dentist.

- Provide chairside assistance when required and contribute to an efficient clinical workflow.

- Follow all infection prevention and control, sterilisation, workplace health and safety and clinical governance requirements.

- Maintain a professional, welcoming and patient-centred approach at all times.

- Contribute to a positive team culture and the continued improvement of clinical services within the practice.

What We're Looking For

- Current registration as an Oral Health Therapist with the Dental Board of Australia (DBA).

- An approved qualification in Oral Health Therapy from an accredited Australian institution.

- Strong clinical knowledge and experience in preventative and therapeutic oral health care.

- Sound understanding of periodontal health, disease prevention and patient education.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to recognise patients who require further dental assessment or more extensive treatment and communicate findings effectively to the principal dentist.

- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the dental team.

- Experience using dental practice management software and digital imaging systems.

- Solid understanding of infection prevention and control and workplace health and safety requirements.

- Qualified, reliable and patient-focused approach.

- Strong attention to detail and accurate clinical documentation.

- Current First Aid and CPR certification.

- Previous experience in private dental practice is highly desirable.
