The Women's & Perinatal Mental Health Unit at Monash Health is a specialist, evidence-informed, and integrated service that includes a community perinatal mental health team, a perinatal consultation-liaison service, and the Monash Perinatal and Infant Inpatient Unit. The successful applicant will have a passion for research and teaching. The clinical role requires experience in one or all of infant, perinatal and/or women's mental health.

About the Role

As part of the team, you will:

- Provide evidence-based mental health care to parents and infants needing dyadic/relational interventions, women attending Monash Health for their maternity and/or gynaecology care, parents with infants admitted to the newborn nurseries, and work closely with the Monash Perinatal and Infant Inpatient Unit
- Support Psychiatry Registrars through supervision and training, and also other junior doctors and medical students
- Conduct research and produce papers and publications from that research
- Contribute to the preparation of research proposal submissions to external funding bodies
- Supervise research-support staff and guide in the research effort of junior team members
- Participate and contribute to the teaching program of the Department in the area of women's and perinatal mental health
- Co-supervision or,



where appropriate, supervision of major honours or postgraduate research projects within the field of the staff member's area of research
- Attendance at meetings associated with research or the work of the organisational unit to which the research is connected
- Be supported by an engaged, professional Consultant body, leadership team and skilled multi-disciplinary mental health workforce
- Be expected to work at different Monash Health sites including Oakleigh, Pakenham and Clayton
- Participate in the After-Hours On-call roster

The adjunct academic appointment will be reviewed in accordance with Monash University metrics and for a period determined by the University.

About You

To be successful in this academic and healthcare role, you will have the following:

- Be working towards or hold a PhD in the field of psychiatry
- Competence in preparing research proposals, conducting research, supervising research staff, producing papers and publications
- Experience in teaching in the area of perinatal and women's mental health
- Clinical experience in at least one of perinatal and/or consultation-liaison psychiatry
- Commitment to high quality patient care, particularly for pregnant and postnatal women, their infants, and for women across the lifespan
- Understanding of, and commitment to, clinical governance
- Experience in providing services to people with acute and serious mental illness
- Comprehensive working knowledge of the Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022




- Capacity and willingness to provide high quality supervision and teaching
- Commitment to continuing education, teamwork and collaboration
- Ability to lead service improvement projects to ensure ongoing improvement in service delivery
- Knowledge of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards
- Commitment to Monash Health values

Mandatory requirements of the role:

- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- RANZCP Fellowship
- Working with Children's Certificate
