About the role

J.J. Kerr's Appliance Centre is seeking an experienced Refrigeration Air Conditioning Mechanic to join our team in North Rockhampton, QLD. This is a full-time position based on-site at our North Rockhampton location. As a Refrigeration Air Conditioning Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in maintaining, repairing, and installing refrigeration and air conditioning systems for our clients. This position is essential to our operations, ensuring that we deliver high-quality service and maintain our reputation for excellence in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry.

What you'll be doing

1. Install, maintain, and repair refrigeration and air conditioning systems for residential clients

2. Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in AC and refrigeration equipment using appropriate diagnostic tools and techniques

3. Perform routine servicing and preventive maintenance on air conditioning and refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance

4. Conduct system inspections and testing to identify leaks, blockages, and other issues affecting system efficiency

5. Recharge refrigerant systems and replace components such as compressors, condensers, and evaporators

6. Comply with all relevant safety regulations, including the handling of refrigerants in accordance with environmental and workplace health and safety standards

7. Maintain accurate records of work completed, including job details, parts used, and labour hours

8. Communicate effectively with clients to explain repairs, maintenance requirements, and provide cost estimates

9.



Respond to emergency service calls and provide timely solutions to minimise downtime for clients

10. Keep abreast of new technologies and industry best practices in refrigeration and air conditioning systems

What we're looking for

1. Formal qualification in refrigeration and air conditioning, such as a Certificate III in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning

2. Current ARTIC licence

3. Proven experience as a refrigeration air conditioning mechanic, ideally with at least 3 years' hands-on experience

4. Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycle and air conditioning system operation

5. Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and tools commonly used in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry

6. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues

7. Physical fitness and the ability to work at heights and in confined spaces where necessary

8. Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach to service delivery

9. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

10. Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to client sites as required

11. Understanding of and commitment to workplace health and safety standards
