Join What Ability, a rapidly growing NDIS-registered disability service provider operating across four states in Australia. We don’t just provide support - we create engaging, fun experiences that help people with disabilities live their best lives.

With a national team of over 800 support workers, including professional and semi-professional athletes, our approach is simple: put happiness first.

We’re looking for a people-focused Respite Manager to support Victoria Short Term Respite services.

About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for delivering incredible camp experiences for people with disabilities across Victoria.

You’ll coordinate the planning and delivery of respite end-to-end - from participant bookings and logistics, through to on-the-ground support and post-respite follow up. You’ll work closely with Respite Leads, participants, families, and the national team to make sure every respite runs smoothly, safely, and is genuinely fun.

This role combines operations, people leadership, logistics, and problem solving, making it ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and loves bringing experiences to life.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate and oversee the delivery of respite across VIC

- Allocate and support Respite Leads and respite staff

- Manage respite logistics including accommodation, transport, and resourcing

- Monitor budgets and ensure respite services are delivered efficiently

- Build relationships with participants and families, and manage respite enquiries

- Coordinate participant bookings and ensure all details are confirmed ahead of respite

- Communicate key information clearly with families and stakeholders

- Oversee Supportmate updates, participant needs, and support documentation

- Ensure staff documentation and compliance requirements are up to date

- Manage task tracking systems (JIRA) and follow up on outstanding items

- Review respite documentation including progress notes, timesheets, and medication charts

- Support incident management and ensure reporting is completed correctly

- Manage feedback and complaints in a timely and professional way

- Ensure all respite services meet NDIS Practice Standards, Child Safe Standards, and internal policies

- Oversee risk assessments and ensure participant safety and wellbeing at all times

- Train, coach, and support Respite Leads and respite staff

- Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of respite team members

- Identify opportunities to grow camps and build community connections in VIC

About You

You’re someone who loves bringing people together and creating meaningful experiences.

You might come from a background in disability services, events, or operations, and you’re confident coordinating teams, managing logistics, and building robust relationships.

We’re looking for someone who is:

- Organised and able to juggle multiple moving parts

- A strong communicator who builds trust with participants, families, and staff

- Proactive and solutions-focused

- Calm under pressure and adaptable in a dynamic environment

- Passionate about creating safe, fun, and inclusive experiences

Experience in the disability sector is highly regarded, but attitude, initiative, and energy are just as important.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

- Be part of a fast-growing, purpose-driven organisation

- Play a key role in delivering unforgettable respite experiences

- Work with a passionate and supportive national team

- Make a genuine impact in the lives of people with disabilities

- Grow your career as What Ability continues to expand

The Details

- Full-time, permanent position

- Based in VIC (with travel to camps as required)
