About the prospect

Particular Engineering is expanding its St Marys factory team to support a strong pipeline of mechanical-services prefabrication and modular assembly work.

We are primarily seeking:

- Licensed riggers and doggers

- Qualified mechanical and fabrication tradespeople

- Highly experienced operators who hold both forklift and EWP tickets

These are skilled, hands-on positions. We need people who can work productively, follow drawings, assemble accurately, operate equipment safely and identify problems before they create rework.

We are not currently recruiting entry-level general hands.

Pay rates

The following are casual ordinary-time rates:

- Licensed riggers and doggers: $50 per hour

- Fully qualified tradespeople: From $50 per hour, depending on qualifications, experience and capability

- Experienced non-trade operators: $40 to $50 per hour, depending on experience and demonstrated ability

Superannuation is paid in addition.

Overtime and applicable penalty rates are paid in accordance with the relevant award.

Hours and duration

- Positions commence on a casual basis

- Regular Monday-to-Friday work

- Typical starting time around 6:30 am

- Approximately 50–60 hours per week currently available

- Significant overtime available

- Strong pipeline of approximately two years of upcoming factory work

- Continued hours remain subject to production requirements, employee performance and project schedules

Applicants should be genuinely available and willing to work regular overtime.

Award coverage

All positions are employed under the Manufacturing and Associated Industries and Occupations Award 2020 [MA000010], commonly referred to as the Metal Workers Award.

Employees will be classified according to their qualifications, experience and the duties they perform.

Riggers and doggers

You must hold a current Australian High Risk Work Licence for dogging or rigging.

Relevant duties include:

- Slinging, dogging and rigging loads





- Positioning large mechanical and structural modules

- Using lifting equipment and overhead cranes

- Installing and aligning structural frames

- Supporting forklift and crane movements

- Assisting with lift planning and load control

- Preparing completed modules for transport

Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Riggers are encouraged to apply.

Qualified tradespeople

We are interested in:

- Mechanical plumbers

- Pipefitters

- Mechanical fitters

- Boilermakers

- Fabricators

- Welders

- Structural installers

- Other relevant mechanical or engineering trades

Relevant duties include:

- Prefabricating mechanical pipework and equipment modules

- Installing pipe, valves, fittings, brackets and supports

- Assembling, bolting and aligning structural frames

- Reading fabrication drawings and work instructions

- Measuring and checking dimensions

- Completing fit-up, installation and quality checks

- Identifying drawing, material and fabrication discrepancies

- Preparing completed modules for inspection and transport

Experienced operators without a trade

We will consider experienced applicants without a formal trade qualification, but they must:

- Hold a current forklift High Risk Work Licence

- Hold a current EWP ticket or licence

- Have substantial factory, construction, mechanical-assembly or structural-installation experience

- Be competent with hand and power tools

- Be capable of completing productive work without constant supervision

- Demonstrate good mechanical awareness and attention to detail

Both forklift and EWP qualifications are mandatory for applicants without a trade qualification or rigging licence.

Highly regarded

- Previous mechanical-services prefabrication experience

- Modular construction experience

- Pipefitting or mechanical installation experience

- Experience using overhead cranes

- Dogging or rigging qualifications

- Forklift and EWP qualifications

- Welding or fabrication capability

- Experience working under inspection and test plans

- Leading-hand or supervisory experience
