Flying Bark Productions are looking for a Senior Lighting Artist to work in our Sydney studio.
The Senior Lighting Artist plays a key role in developing the visual style and quality of animated productions by lighting and rendering CG shots as part of a sequence, ensuring the execution and delivery of high quality visually appealing shots, that are in line with the Director’s vision. Working closely with supervisors, lighters, compositors, and the production team, the artist helps ensure the final output meets the highest visual standards.
Key Responsibilities:
· Work with creative leads to interpret visual goals, balancing artistic vision with technical limitations.
· Light and render CG shots, ensuring consistent, high-quality visuals that align with the VFX/CG Supervisor’s vision.
· Maintain consistency of lighting across sequences and troubleshoot rendering issues in a fast-paced environment.
· Use compositing software to create pre-composite trees that combine rendered elements.
· Work closely with compositors to bring shots through to final, meeting production quotas and deadlines.
· Ability to successfully take and interpret a creative brief, whether verbal or visual.
· Work effectively within a team while maintaining positive team dynamics.
· Proactively problem-solve and predict potential issues with assigned tasks.
· Self-manage and complete tasks within production deadlines.
· Communicate clearly and seek information when necessary.
· Be adaptable, versatile, and responsive to changes.
Skillset:
· A minimum of 5 years of production experience in 3D animated films, games, and/or animated episodic series.
· Proficiency in industry-standard rendering, lighting, and compositing software like Renderman, Katana, Arnold, and Nuke.
· Robust understanding of both photoreal and stylized rendering techniques.
· A superior eye for composition, color, mood, and lighting.
· Scripting skills in Python and CEL are a bonus.
· Experience with look development or surfacing is advantageous.
· Excellent communication, time management, and multitasking skills.
· Ability to work independently and under direct supervision, while maintaining high productivity in a fast-paced environment.
· A passion for creating outstanding visuals and contributing to a team-oriented creative team.
· A Bachelor’s degree is a bonus
Pay: $98,800.00 – $109,200.00 per year
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Alexandria NSW 2015
