Our School
Ashcroft High School is located in South Western Sydney. The school aims to promote, develop and consolidate an integrated whole child, whole school approach to student learning and development, encompassing the intellectual, physical, social, emotional, moral, spiritual and aesthetic. We have an established School Health team that provides health services to support student wellbeing.
Purpose of the Role
We are seeking a passionate, experienced and skilled Art Therapist to join our school community on a part time basis, with hours negotiable. This is an exciting chance for an Art Therapist who is committed to supporting the social and emotional wellbeing of young people and who recognises the powerful role that creative expression can play in helping students develop confidence, resilience and positive connections. Working as an integral member of our School Health Team, the successful applicant will provide individual and small-group art therapy sessions to students identified by the Learning Support Team as requiring additional social and emotional support. Through a therapeutic and strengths-based approach, you will use creative processes to help students express themselves, build emotional awareness,
develop coping strategies and strengthen their engagement with school. The role will involve:
· Planning and delivering individual and group art therapy interventions tailored to students' needs.
· Building positive, trusting and therapeutic relationships with students.
· Supporting students' social, emotional and behavioural development through creative therapeutic approaches.
· Maintaining accurate, confidential student records and relevant statistical and outcome data.
· Monitoring and communicating student progress and contributing to the evaluation of therapeutic programs.
· Working collaboratively with the School Health, Student Support Services, Welfare and Learning Support teams.
· Contributing qualified expertise to the development of holistic, student-centred support strategies.
