Cooma Hospital & Health Service is seeking a Registered Midwife to join the Maternity Ward on a 12-week contract from late September through December 2026. Based in Cooma, NSW, this role offers the chance to work across the full spectrum of maternity care—antenatal, postnatal, and labour ward—with remuneration of AUD$45.00 to AUD$60.00 per hour. You'll lead the ward as the sole midwife on shift, with two MGP midwives available on call for support, giving you genuine autonomy and the chance to make a real difference in women's care during a critical time.
Lead antenatal, postnatal, and labour ward care as the primary midwife on shift
AUD$45.00 to AUD$60.00 per hour, with on-call backup support from MGP midwives
12-week fixed-term contract in a regional hospital setting with direct clinical responsibility

Preferred Requirements




Current registration as a Registered Midwife with AHPRA
Demonstrated experience across antenatal, postnatal, and labour ward settings
Competence in managing labour and delivery, including normal and complicated presentations
Ability to work autonomously and make sound clinical decisions under pressure
Solid communication skills and the capacity to work collaboratively with on-call support and broader hospital teams

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Midwifery or equivalent qualification recognised by AHPRA
Current CPR and emergency resuscitation certification
Experience in regional or rural maternity settings is advantageous
