About the role
We are seeking an experienced and safety‐focused Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to support a portfolio of capital upgrades across an Alumina Smelter in Portland, Victoria. You will be responsible for performing electrical and instrumentation inspections, repairs, upgrades and calibrations across fixed plant equipment to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operational performance. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will support breakdowns, shutdown activities and equipment upgrades across critical processing assets.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out electrical and instrumentation works, fault‐finding and repairs on plant & equipment
Perform calibrations, loop checks, testing and verification of instrumentation devices
Conduct inspections, installation, configuration and replacement of electrical and instrumentation components
Support multiple capital upgrade works concurrently
Work safely in operational processing environments following all permits, procedures and isolation requirements
Diagnose electrical and control system issues and recommend effective corrective actions
Collaborate with supervisors,



trades and operations teams to maintain plant reliability and ensure compliance with standards
Complete documentation, reports and records to required quality, safety and statutory compliance levels
About You
Trade‐qualified Electrical Instrumentation Technician, Electrician with Instrumentation, or equivalent.
Experience in mining, minerals processing, alumina/bauxite, or heavy industrial environments.
Strong technical capability across HV/LV electrical systems, PLCs, instruments, transmitters, control valves, analysers and process control equipment.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs;, loop diagrams and technical documentation.
Demonstrated commitment to safety, teamwork and delivering high‐quality workmanship.
Comfortable working in a fast‐paced operational plant with competing priorities.
Tickets such as Working at Heights, Confined Space, EWP or LVR/CP are advantageous.
