About us:
The Finance Unit provides financial, revenue and administrative support services across Children, Young People and Families (CYPF), including John Hunter Children's Hospital. The team works closely with clinical services, managers and external stakeholders to support financial management, revenue collection, reporting, budgeting and operational decision-making.
Based at John Hunter Children's Hospital in New Lambton Heights, the team operates within a large and complex tertiary health service environment, supporting high-quality healthcare delivery to children, young people and their families across Hunter New England.
About the role:
The Finance Support Officer provides a broad range of financial and administrative support to the Finance Unit. Daily responsibilities include processing financial transactions, invoice management, ordering and receipting, revenue-related activities, clinician billing support, data entry, reporting, record maintenance and responding to finance enquiries.
The role assists with monthly reporting activities, maintains financial information systems, supports compliance with financial procedures and contributes to business improvement initiatives where required. The position also manages incoming enquiries through the Finance inbox and provides customer-focused support to internal and external stakeholders.




This role does not have direct reports and reports directly to the Finance Manager, John Hunter Children's Hospital.

How you'll be supported:
The successful candidate will receive a structured orientation and workplace induction, along with ongoing support from the Finance Manager and experienced members of the Finance Team.
Training will be provided in relevant financial systems, local processes, policies and procedures. Regular feedback, coaching and opportunities for professional development will support the candidate's growth and success within the role.
