Bábbarra Women's Centre is an essential enterprise of Bawinanga Homelands Aboriginal Corporation (BHAC), which is a progressive Aboriginal organisation dedicated to representing and supporting approximately 4,000 Aboriginal people across 32 homelands in West Arnhem Land.

The Opportunity
Operating under BHAC, the Bábbarra Women's Centre supports female artists to govern their own enterprise, create sustainable livelihoods,



and keep culture strong through textile art, printmaking, and community projects.
We are seeking a proactive
Arts Studio and Projects Officer
to support the day-to-day operations of the Bábbarra Women's Centre. Working closely with the Bábbarra Manager, local artists, and the wider community, you will play a hands-on role across textile production, art fairs, retail, and project administration in a vibrant remote setting.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with screen and lino printing, colour prep, quality control, studio maintenance, material ordering, and cataloguing artwork in SAM.
Assist with the 'Young Daluk' (young women) program and mentor studio workers in skill development.
Package and dispatch online orders and maintain accurate sales records.
Help plan art fair and exhibition logistics, including consignments, applications, and travel arrangements.
Photograph artwork, update artist biographies, and create engaging content for social media (Instagram/Facebook) and website platforms.
Assist with project delivery, budgeting, grant reporting/acquittals, and record-keeping through internal systems.
Support the protection of Indigenous Cultural Intellectual Property (ICIP) and ensure works are correctly attributed and documented.




Selection Criteria
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Art, Design, Community Development, or Indigenous Studies.
Demonstrated experience working in a remote Aboriginal community environment, with strong knowledge and respect for Aboriginal protocol and culture.
Background in administration, arts, or community development.
Proven ability to take initiative, solve problems proactively, and work effectively in a team.
Passion for mentoring and supporting women's activities and development.
Robust written and verbal communication skills across diverse audiences (community members, tourists, commercial partners).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, computer databases, cash handling, and EFTPOS.
Previous experience in an arts organisation or not-for-profit setting.
Current Manual NT Driver's licence (or ability to obtain).
