The Role
As a
Senior Automation Technician
, you'll play a key role in delivering industrial electrical, automation and control systems support to our customers.
This is a
hands-on, trade-based automation role
.
It is ideally suited to an experienced industrial electrician who has developed strong control systems and fault-finding capability and wants to continue progressing deeper into industrial automation.
Your work will include:
PLC and control system fault-finding
SCADA and HMI troubleshooting
Industrial electrical breakdown support
Diagnosing complex electrical and automation faults
Planned preventative maintenance
Control system upgrades and modifications
PLC, HMI and instrumentation commissioning
Remote diagnostics and customer technical support
Industrial electrical installations
New control system installations and upgrades
Testing and commissioning of electrical and automation equipment
Working directly with customers to resolve critical operational issues
Supporting automation projects and continuous improvement initiatives
Identifying opportunities to improve plant reliability and performance
No two weeks will look exactly the same.
One week you may be diagnosing a PLC-controlled production issue, the next commissioning instrumentation on a new project, upgrading an existing control system or supporting a customer with an industrial breakdown.

About You
You're an experienced electrical tradesperson who enjoys the technical side of industrial electrical work.
You're comfortable working independently, but you also enjoy being part of a team.
When equipment stops, you're the type of person who wants to understand
why it stopped, find the fault and get it running properly again.
You communicate well with customers, take pride in the quality of your work and are always looking to improve your knowledge.
Ideally, you'll bring:
A-Grade Electrical Licence – essential
Minimum
3 years' experience in industrial electrical maintenance, service or automation
Experience with small to medium industrial electrical installations
Strong electrical fault-finding capability
Experience working within industrial breakdown and maintenance environments
Ability to confidently interpret electrical and control schematics
Exposure to PLC-controlled machinery and industrial automation systems
PLC fault-finding and troubleshooting capability
Experience with
Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley
PLC platforms is highly regarded
Exposure to SCADA, HMI, VSDs, instrumentation or industrial communications will be highly regarded
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
Good communication skills when dealing with customers and other trades
A proactive, solutions-focused attitude
The ability to take ownership and see a problem through to completion
Most importantly, we're looking for someone with the
right attitude, strong fundamentals and a genuine desire to keep learning.
You don't need to know every automation platform or technology on day one.
