WC Consultant - Return to Work & Claims Advisory

As our Workplace Risk business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Return to Work professional to join our national team to build on our outsourced injury management and return to work solution - WorkAon.
This role offers the opportunity to move beyond traditional claims management and become a trusted advisor to some of Australia's largest employers, helping them improve recovery at work, reduce workers' compensation costs and strengthen governance across complex injury portfolios.
This position could be based in any of our Aon metro offices in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.
What the role involves
You will work directly with clients to provide outsourced return to work and injury management services, partnering with insurers, claims agents, rehabilitation providers and key stakeholders to improve claim outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing return to work and injury management programs for employer clients
Developing and reviewing return to work plans
Facilitating early intervention and recovery at work strategies in consultation with key stakeholders
Providing oversight of complex and high-risk workers' compensation claims
Engaging with insurers and claims agents to drive timely and effective claim outcomes
Supporting employers to meet legislative and regulatory obligations
Supporting client payroll requirements to ensure timely and accurate administration of weekly benefits
Delivering performance reporting, claim reviews and strategic recommendations
Using Aon's AI and analytics tools to identify claim trends, flag high-risk claims earlier and strengthen the quality of your advice
Finding practical ways to apply AI to reduce manual effort and improve consistency across your claims portfolio
Assisting clients to identify opportunities to improve governance, claims performance and return to work outcomes
Building trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders
About you
You are a proactive and commercially minded skilled who enjoys solving client problems and influencing positive outcomes.
You will bring:
3+ years' experience in workers' compensation, injury management or return to work
Experience working for an employer, insurer, broker or consulting organisation
Strong understanding of workers' compensation legislation and injury management practices
Experience managing stakeholder relationships across multiple parties
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Strong organisational and project management capability
Ability to analyse claims information and identify actionable insights
Confidence using digital tools, and an openness to adopting AI to work smarter and lift the quality of client outcomes
Desirable:
Return to Work Coordinator accreditation
Allied Health, Occupational Rehabilitation, Health Sciences, WHS or related qualifications
Multi-jurisdiction workers' compensation experience
Consulting or client-facing experience
Experience using AI, data or analytics tools to improve claims, reporting or decision making
