About the role
This is a Fixed Term Position Until 30 June ****
The Senior Road Safety Engineer is a specialist technical role requiring deep expertise in road safety engineering, the Safe System approach, and network-level safety management. The role applies tools such as Network Safety Plans (NSPs), AusRAP, crash analysis, and knowledge of effective road safety treatments and Safe System infrastructure to inform policy, investment, and project decisions across Victoria's road network. The position provides expert advice, collaborates with stakeholders across government, influences road safety priorities, and translates complex evidence into practical recommendations that improve safety outcomes for all road users. Success in the role requires strong analytical skills, sound engineering judgement, stakeholder management and the ability to apply network-level safety principles to decision-making.

Applies protected system thinking and critical problem-solving skills to understand complex road safety challenges and develop effective,
sustainable solutions.
Uses road safety engineering expertise and frameworks to provide technical advice and improve safety outcomes across infrastructure programs and projects.
Delivers projects effectively by planning activities, coordinating work, monitoring progress and responding to emerging issues.
Communicates technical information clearly and effectively to support understanding and informed decision‐making by diverse audiences.
Drives innovation and continuous improvement by identifying opportunities, sharing ideas and applying better ways of working.
Qualifications and experience
You'llbring:
Appropriate tertiary qualifications in engineering or a related field. (Mandatory)
Minimum 3 years' experience relevant in road safety, engineering or related field. (Mandatory)
Skill in use of spatial data applications including GIS, and PowerBI. (Desirable)
Pre‐employment checks and employment conditions

Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa necessary for the nature of the position.
