Position purpose
To manage a portfolio of clients end-to-end, act as senior technical reviewer for work prepared by junior and intermediate staff, and independently complete complex advisory and compliance engagements with minimal supervision. The role carries significant review responsibility and is expected to be a technical point of reference for the team.
Key responsibilities
Manage an allocated client portfolio as a primary day-to-day contact, maintaining strong relationships and anticipating client needs.
Identify advisory and value-add opportunities and raise them with the responsible Principal.
Independently prepare and finalise complex financial statements, income tax returns and advisory work for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals.
Act as senior reviewer, providing high-level review and sign-off on work prepared by others, with a strong eye for technical accuracy, risk and quality.
Handle sophisticated engagements including trust and corporate structuring, Division 7A, CGT (including small business concessions), FBT, GST, payroll tax and SMSF compliance.
Research and resolve technical issues,



and document positions clearly for the file.
Supervise, mentor and develop junior and intermediate staff, providing constructive feedback through the review process.
Monitor workflow to ensure engagements are delivered on time and to standard.
Contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture.
Ensure work complies with relevant legislation, professional and ethical standards, and firm quality/risk procedures.
Contribute to process improvement and adoption of firm systems and technology.
Qualifications and experience
CA or CPA qualified (or equivalent), completed.
Must have recent experience in Australian public practice.
Demonstrated capacity to independently manage and finalise high-level, complex engagements.
Proven review experience across a broad range of entity types.
Sound working knowledge of tax, SMSF and corporate/trust compliance and advisory.
Proficiency with practice and lodgement software (e.g. practice management, workpapers, SMSF and tax software).
Skills and attributes
