Role details
The Nurse Bank, Casual Pool and Transit Care Hub at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for an Associate Nurse Unit Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity
The Associate Nurse Unit Manager is a Registered Nurse who supports and works collaboratively with the Nurse Unit Manger (Nurse Bank, Casual Pool and Transit Care Hub) and Nurse Manager (Patient Access and Coordination Hub). This role provides leadership and direction to nursing staff (Nurse Bank, Casual Pool and Transit Care Hub) and is responsible for the facilitation and provisions of operations and Human Resource Management consistent with contemporary standards and best practice.
The Associate Nurse Unit Manager role operates 7 days per week (Monday-Sunday) to assist with coordination of hospital staff coverage resulting from emergent leave and rostered deficits. The role reports professionally to Nurse Unit Manager of Nurse Bank, Casual Pool & Transit Care Hub and performs tasks delegated by NUM to support operation of service including but not limited to, recruitment, rostering, staffing, and education.
About the Team
The aim of the Patient Access and Coordination Hub is to provide centralised coordination and allocation of patient movements through a consistent approach to patient flow from admission to discharge by promoting safe, timely,
clinical and culturally appropriate care to patients and their families. The team undertakes the following functions of bed management and allocation, after hours hospital management and managing the daily fluctuations in demand capacity thought the opening and closing of beds. The team includes Nurse Managers, Nurse Unit Managers and administration staff which provided coordination, leadership and management of Nurse Bank, Casual Pool and Transit Care Hub. They consult regarding nursing workforce requirements in a proactive real time approach and reviews and monitors staff shortages due to unplanned absenteeism and provide nursing support where possible.
