DIESEL FITTER

The role is DIDO from Darwin, working a 7/7 day shift roster for an initial six month period.

The Cosmo Mine is located 160 km from Darwin. Works are currently focused on site rehabilitation and exploration activities.

Camp accommodation and meals provided.

The primary purpose of this position is to perform planned/breakdown maintenance of equipment in accordance with site procedures and maintenance schedules.

Working within a small team to perform the ongoing maintenance of Cosmo's plant and equipment, you will be required to inspect, repair and maintain a small fleet of heavy equipment , light vehicles, dewatering equipment including pumps, valves and generators. There is also some infrequent building and fixed plant maintenance.

This position is an opportunity to learn new skills and work outside the normal constraints of a traditional workshop role. Being part of a small team, the successful candidate will be a self motivated conscientious team member that works equally well in a team environments as they do working on their own.

The right candidate will preferably have experience working on Komatsu, Hitachi, CAT mobile and equipment and also be familiar with working on light vehicles.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, your duties will include:

- Conduct diagnostics, fault-finding, scheduled and preventative maintenance and repairs on a range of heavy mobile equipment (excavators, graders, loaders, haul trucks, LVs)

- Assist with planned and unplanned shutdown maintenance

- Measure and record relevant maintenance and safety data, including downtime reports, ongoing revision of critical spares list, service reports, JHA, Take 5s, and daily reporting

- Repairs and maintenance of fixed and submersible pumps and respective piping systems

- Operate mobile equipment (forklifts, IT Loaders, dozers, excavators, haul trucks, graders, backhoes) as required





- Ensure all mechanical installations and upgrades to existing equipment meet relevant standards.

- Basic welding

- Ensure all site safety procedures are adhered to

- Maintain a safe and hazard free workplace

- Participate in risk assessments and risk management processes

- Act in accordance with site standards policies and procedures at all times

The successful candidate should possess the following:

- Mechanical trade qualifications

- Mining background (desired)

- Current NT C Class drivers licence

- Proven ability to diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic, mechanical and electrical (12v and 24v) systems and equipment

- Experience with MMA and MIG welding processes

- High Risk Work licences - CN, LF, WP- (desirable)

- Machine licences - HR, LF , LE LL, LD, LG - (desirable)

- A positive and proactive approach to safety at work

- Pronto knowledge (desirable)
