The Opportunity

Tamworth Hospital is seeking SRMOs to join its busy Emergency Department on a locum basis.

This role is ideal for junior doctors wanting to strengthen their emergency skills, gain hands-on experience across a broad case mix, and enjoy the flexibility of locum work in a supportive, teaching-focused hospital.

Clinical Setting

You will work in a busy regional Emergency Department with strong exposure to acute presentations and support from senior clinicians.

- Acute exposure – manage a wide range of ED presentations, from minor injuries to high-acuity cases
- Procedural skills – build confidence in resus, trauma and acute care procedures
- Supportive environment – senior registrar and FACEM support in a collaborative team
- Balanced experience – ED roster offering variety and strong training exposure
- Locum flexibility – ad-hoc shifts available across 2026

Patient Demographic

You will support a broad Emergency Department patient mix, including adults, older patients, families, acute presentations, trauma, minor injuries and patients requiring assessment, stabilisation and escalation of care.

Key Duties

- Assess and manage ED presentations
- Support patient flow and treatment planning
- Assist with acute care, resus and procedural work within scope
- Complete clinical documentation and handover
- Escalate clinical concerns appropriately
- Work collaboratively with nursing, registrar and FACEM teams

Requirements

- AHPRA General Registration
- PGY3+ with prior ED or acute care experience desirable




- NSW Working with Children Check and Police Check
- Australian working rights
- Willingness to complete local credentialing and onboarding
