The Opportunity

Hunter New England LHD is seeking a confident and experienced Registrar In Charge to support Emergency Department operations across regional hospital sites.

You will manage acute presentations, oversee junior staff, liaise with consultants and coordinate retrieval or escalation services where needed.

Clinical Environment

You will work across regional Emergency Department settings within Hunter New England LHD, supporting busy ED teams and helping coordinate safe patient care during rostered shifts.

- Leadership exposure – lead ED teams and support junior doctors during rostered shifts
- Acute decision-making – oversee triage, escalation and management of urgent presentations
- Procedural experience – participate in resus, trauma calls and acute care procedures
- Consultant support – liaise with FACEMs, inpatient teams and retrieval services as needed
- Regional ED variety – work across sites with varied presentations and strong clinical exposure

Patient Demographic

You will support a broad Emergency Department patient mix, including adults, older patients, families, acute medical and surgical presentations, trauma, resus cases and patients requiring stabilisation, escalation or retrieval coordination.

Key Duties

- Lead the ED team during rostered shifts
- Provide triage oversight and clinical decision-making
- Escalate complex or deteriorating patients appropriately
- Supervise JMOs and support junior staff
- Liaise with inpatient teams, consultants and retrieval services
- Participate in resus,



trauma calls and procedural work

Requirements

- AHPRA General Registration
- PGY4+ with Emergency Medicine experience
- NSW Working with Children Check and Police Check
- Willingness to complete e-learning and credentialing
