The Opportunity

Hunter New England LHD is seeking GP VMOs and CMOs to provide locum support across regional hospitals and GP clinics.

Clinical Environment

You will work across Hunter New England LHD settings, with opportunities available in GP clinics, rural hospitals and ED fast track environments depending on site needs and your experience.

- Varied practice settings – work across GP clinics, hospitals or ED fast track depending on your preference

- Supportive clinical teams – collaborate with FACEMs, registrars, nurses and allied health staff

Patient Demographic

You will support a broad regional patient mix, including general practice patients, families, older adults, acute presentations, minor injuries, chronic disease management and patients requiring assessment, stabilisation or escalation of care.

Key Duties

- Provide GP VMO or CMO cover within scope
- Assess and manage patients in clinic, hospital or ED fast track settings
- Support acute presentations and primary care needs
- Complete clinical documentation and handover
- Escalate clinical concerns appropriately
- Work collaboratively with nursing,



allied health and senior medical teams

Requirements

- AHPRA Specialist Registration
- Recent GP VMO, CMO, general practice or acute care experience
- NSW Working with Children Check and Police Check
- Australian working rights
- Willingness to complete local credentialing and onboarding

Location

Hunter New England LHD covers a large and diverse region of NSW, with opportunities across larger regional centres such as Tamworth and Armidale, as well as smaller rural hospitals and community settings.

Also, if locum work isn’t for you at the moment but you know another doctor who may be interested, we do have a referral program. Successful referrals can receive a $1,100 prepaid gift card for non-specialist doctors, or $1,600 for specialist/consultant referrals, once the referred doctor has completed the required shifts.
