Sante Recruitment is seeking an experienced Specialist Anaesthetist to join the Vic Callanan Department of Anaesthetics and Perioperative Medicine at Townsville University Hospital.

The Opportunity As a Staff Specialist Anaesthetist, you will provide high-quality anaesthetic and perioperative care across a diverse range of surgical and procedural specialties.
Townsville University Hospital has 14 operating theatres and more than 16,000 procedures performed annually, providing an extensive clinical workload across both elective and emergency services.
The role provides opportunities to develop your clinical expertise and subspecialty interests while working alongside an experienced and supportive team of Anaesthetists.
Clinical Services Include Anaesthetic services are provided across a comprehensive range of tertiary specialties, including:

- Cardiac and thoracic surgery
- Paediatric surgery
- Neurosurgery
- ENT
- Urology
- Vascular surgery
- Plastics
- Tertiary Obstetrics and Gynaecology
- Complex General Surgery
- Emergency and elective surgery

The department also provides anaesthesia and procedural services outside the operating theatres, including:

- Endoscopy
- Interventional Cardiology
- Neuroradiology
- Medical Imaging
- Mental Health
- Acute Pain Service

The Vic Callanan Department of Anaesthetics and Perioperative Medicine is an established specialist department with a broad clinical scope and strong commitment to education, training and quality patient care.
Remuneration & Benefits The position offers an attractive Queensland Health remuneration package, including:

- Base salary: $222,059 – $281,545 per annum (L18–L27)
- Attraction and Retention Incentive Allowance of up to 50% of base salary
- Regional and Rural Attraction Allowance of 5% of base salary
- Motor vehicle allowance of approximately $21,000 – $25,500 per annum
- Professional Development Allowance of $21,500 per annum
- 3.6 weeks professional development leave per annum
- 4–6 weeks annual leave, plus 14%–17.5% leave loading
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- Salary packaging options to increase take-home pay

Depending on classification and eligibility, the overall remuneration package can be significantly higher than the base salary.
About You We are seeking a Specialist Anaesthetist who is committed to delivering high-quality clinical care and working collaboratively within a tertiary multidisciplinary environment.
Essential Requirements

- Medical degree and specialist qualifications in Anaesthesia.
- Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA).
- Specialist registration, or eligibility for specialist registration, with the Medical Board of Australia/AHPRA.
- Demonstrated experience in Anaesthesia appropriate to the position.





Doctors who are close to obtaining ANZCA Fellowship are encouraged to apply. Appointment may initially be made at an appropriate lower classification until the requirements for Staff Specialist appointment are met.
