Read this part first
We're not looking for someone to manage a sales team. We're looking for someone to own a number and lead a team that hits it.
If you've run a floor before, know your close rate off the top of your head, and can point to the twelve months where you turned a soft team into a performing one, keep reading.
If you're after a title bump, a comfortable base and a quiet Saturday, this will be the worst job you've ever had. We'd rather tell you that now than in week three.
The role
Mars has been building off-road campers and caravans for over 20 years. Queensland is our growth market, and Caboolture is becoming the flagship site. You'll run the sales operation there. The team, the floor, the pipeline, and the gross profit that comes out the other end.
You'll carry your own deals too. This is a leading-from-the-front role, not a clipboard role.
What you'll actually own
The number. Monthly and quarterly sales and gross profit targets for the site. Not "contributing to", owning.
The team. Coaching, accountability, and the hard conversations. Building people who perform without being chased.
The pipeline. Every lead followed up until it's closed or genuinely disqualified. Showroom, phone, online. No lead dies quietly in the CRM.
The hard deals. When it stalls, it comes to you. Escalations, negotiations, the ones the team can't get over the line.
The metrics. Conversion, volume, gross profit, lead response time, follow-up activity, finance and accessory attachment. You'll know these weekly, not monthly.
The experience. People spend responsible money with us and tell their mates about it either way. Protect that.
What you bring
- Proven sales leadership in automotive, caravan, camper trailer, marine or high-ticket retail
- Numbers you can put on the table. Close rates, volume, team performance before and after you. If you can't quantify it, this isn't the role.
- A closer's track record — you've personally carried a bag and hit target, not just managed people who did
- Real accountability experience. You've been held to a number, and you've held others to one.
- CRM discipline. Pipeline hygiene isn't admin to you, it's how you find money.
- Composure under pressure. Busy floor, end of month, three deals wobbling, that's a Tuesday.
The honest bits
- Mandatory half-day Saturdays. Every week. This is retail and that's when customers buy.
- Interstate travel and weekend work for expos and events, from time to time.
- You'll be measured. Monthly. In writing.
- This is a growth site, not a finished one. You'll be building as you go, not inheriting a machine.
What's in it for the right person
- Base salary plus commission — OTE $120,000
- A genuine seat at the table on how Queensland grows. This role shapes the site, not just staffs it
- Product people actually want to own, and a brand with 20+ years behind it
- Autonomy. Hit your number and nobody will be looking over your shoulder.
What success looks like at 12 months
- Targets consistently exceeded, not just met
- Close rate and follow-up discipline lifted across the whole team, not just your own deals
- A team that holds itself accountable without you in the room
- Customers who buy again, and send people in
How to apply
Send your resume to ******@marscampers.com.au and answer these three questions in the body of your email. No cover letter needed — we'd rather have the answers.
1. When did you last manage a team and how was their performance?
2. Tell us about a salesperson you turned around — or one you had to let go, and why.
3. What's the biggest deal you've personally closed, and what nearly killed it?
Applications without answers to those three won't be reviewed. It's not a hoop — it's the first thing we'd ask you in an interview anyway, and it tells us more than three pages of resume.
