Have you built a solid foundation as a Legal Assistant and feel ready to take on more? This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Legal Assistant with approximately 2-3 years' private practice experience to step into a Junior Law Clerk position offering greater involvement in files, direct client contact and hands-on exposure to Commercial Property and Leasing matters.

Joining a highly regarded Melbourne commercial law firm, you'll work closely with experienced senior practitioners who are looking for someone they can invest in, develop and gradually give greater responsibility to.

The Opportunity
Sitting within the firm's Commercial practice with a particular focus on Property & Leasing, this newly created role bridges the gap between traditional legal administration and more substantive file work.

You'll continue to provide important administrative support while becoming increasingly involved in progressing matters and working directly with clients.
Your responsibilities will include:

- Communicating directly with clients and, where appropriate, taking initial instructions
- Assisting with the opening and establishment of new client files
- Preparing first drafts of leases using established precedents
- Making instructed amendments to legal documents
- Progressing commercial and retail leasing matters
- Assisting with matters for both landlord and tenant clients
- Registering leasing documentation
- Formatting and preparing legal documents
- Managing files and ensuring matters progress efficiently
- Assisting with billing and general practice administration

About You
This isn't a graduate lawyer position or a role designed for someone looking for short-term experience while completing their law degree. Instead,



we're looking for someone who has already developed strong foundations within legal support and is ready to take the next step in their support career as a Law Clerk. Ideally, you'll bring:

- Approximately 2-3 years' experience as a Legal Assistant within private practice
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate work
- Strong communication and client service skills
- Confidence working within established processes
- Excellent organisation and time management
- Initiative and the ability to think ahead
- A professional, polished and proactive approach

Previous experience within Property and/or Leasing will be highly regarded, although isn't essential. More important is your ability to learn quickly, take direction and genuinely want to develop your skills.
