About the role

The Transformation Lead, AI role spans strategy and execution across the group's operating companies and sits under the Chief Operating Officer with focus across all operations. You will work through each company department by department: interview the people doing the work, map what happens now with volumes and cycle times, and identify where AI changes the cost, speed or quality of the output. You will set a future state for each department, rank the opportunities across the group, and agree the sequence with the COO and each company's leadership. You will then deliver what you have prioritised by defining each use case, mapping the process end to end, specifying what gets built, and working alongside an engineer through build, testing and handover to the business owner.

Key responsibilities

Strategy and portfolio

- Set the AI strategy for each operating company, each with a current baseline and a target, and consolidate those into one group view.

- Maintain a ranked pipeline of use cases across the group, scored on value, feasibility, data readiness and risk, and refresh the ranking each quarter.

- Stop use cases that miss their acceptance threshold at pilot, record the reason in the portfolio, and reopen them only when the blocking condition changes.

- Brief the executive and the board on where the programme stands, in the language of cost, cycle time and risk.

Use case definition

- Run discovery with process owners to turn a stated problem into a defined use case with a baseline measure, a target measure, a data source, and a named business owner.





- Write the business case, e.g. build cost, run cost, expected saving or revenue, and payback period.

- Specify the evaluation and the acceptance threshold before build starts so the result is judged against a number agreed in advance.

- Identify where a use case built in one operating company transfers to another, and record the components that can be reused.

Workflow redesign

- Map the current process step by step with volumes, handoffs, cycle times and error rates.

- Redesign the process around the model's output, including the human review point, the escalation path, and the fallback when the system is unavailable.

- Rewrite the affected procedures and work instructions, and agree the controls with risk, legal and privacy before go-live.

- Transition each workflow to its business owner with a run book, a support path, and reporting.

- Work alongside the engineer through build and testing, holding the specification, the test cases and the acceptance decision.

Education and enablement

- Build and deliver training for 3 audiences: executives who fund the work, managers who change the process, and staff who use the tools daily.

- Maintain the group guidance on approved tools,



approved data, and the patterns that work for common tasks, and update it whenever the tool set changes.

- Build a champion in each operating company so day-to-day support runs inside the business.

Governance and measurement

- Run the intake and review process across the group: request, risk assessment, approval, post-implementation review.

- Report adoption, spend and realised benefit each quarter against the baselines set at definition, broken down by operating company.

- Track cost per use case, covering licences, compute, and staff time.

About you

- 8 to 12 years in transformation, operations, or consulting, including 2 or more years putting AI or automation into production use

- Working knowledge of how large language models behave in production, covering failure modes, evaluation methods, and cost drivers

- Workshop facilitation with executives and frontline staff in the same room, ending with decisions recorded and owners named

- Hands-on prototyping, including agent frameworks and evaluation tooling

- Experience standing up an AI governance from scratch
