JSBC Consulting is an established Structural and Façade Engineering consultancy delivering large-scale, complex and architecturally challenging building projects across Sydney and Australia.

As our façade division continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Façade Engineer / Senior Façade Engineer to join our team.

This opportunity is suited to an engineer who already has a strong technical foundation in façade engineering and is looking for greater project responsibility, exposure to complex façade systems, direct access to senior engineers and a genuine pathway toward leading façade projects.

You will work closely with our Façade Engineering Lead and Director, delivering façade engineering services across residential, mixed-use, commercial and other major building developments through design, documentation and construction.

This is not a role where you will simply review drawings in the background. We want you to develop as a well-rounded façade consultant — technically strong, practical, commercially aware and confident dealing directly with architects, builders, developers and façade contractors.

The Role

Depending on your experience, you will take responsibility for an increasing level of façade engineering and project delivery, including:

- Providing façade engineering input across residential, mixed-use, commercial and other building projects.

- Reviewing architectural façade designs and developing practical engineering solutions.





- Engineering and reviewing a range of façade systems including curtain wall, window wall, aluminium-framed glazing, precast concrete, lightweight cladding, metal cladding, brickwork, Hebel/AAC and other façade systems.

- Undertaking structural design and engineering of façade components, connections and supporting systems.

- Carrying out wind analysis for buildings and preparing project-specific wind reports.

- Assessing façade systems for wind pressures and other applicable design actions.

- Preparing façade weatherproofing reports and assessments against relevant NCC requirements.

- Preparing façade Performance Solutions where required.

- Reviewing façade details for weatherproofing, structural adequacy, movement, durability and constructability.

- Reviewing façade shop drawings, including windows, sliding doors, curtain wall systems, metalwork, cladding and associated components.

- Reviewing calculations, technical submissions, material information and façade contractor documentation.

- Undertaking façade site inspections and preparing inspection reports.

- Identifying façade defects and providing practical engineering solutions during construction.

- Attending design, coordination and construction meetings.

- Responding to façade RFIs from architects, builders, developers, subcontractors and other stakeholders.

- Coordinating façade requirements with structural engineers, architects, builders, services consultants and façade contractors.

- Communicating directly with clients and project stakeholders.

- For more experienced candidates, taking increasing responsibility for project leadership, technical reviews, client management and mentoring junior engineers.

About You

We are looking for an engineer with local façade engineering experience within the Australian building industry.

You will have:

- A Bachelor of Engineering in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or another relevant engineering discipline.

- Approximately 3–8+ years of façade engineering experience, with strong consideration given to both mid-level and senior candidates.

- Significant Australian façade industry experience, ideally within an engineering consultancy, façade consultancy, façade contractor or window/curtain wall contractor.

- A strong understanding of façade engineering principles and Australian construction practices.

- Experience with a variety of façade systems such as curtain wall, window wall, aluminium windows and doors, precast concrete, lightweight cladding, metal cladding, brickwork and Hebel/AAC systems.

- Experience reviewing architectural façade details and developing practical façade solutions.

- Experience in the structural engineering and assessment of façade components and connections.

- Knowledge and practical application of relevant Australian Standards, including AS 1664, AS 1288, AS 4600 and AS 5216.

- Strong working knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC) and other Australian Standards relevant to façade engineering.

- Understanding of façade weatherproofing requirements and the preparation of weatherproofing assessments and reports.





- Experience preparing or contributing to façade Performance Solutions.

- Experience reviewing façade shop drawings and contractor technical submissions.

- Experience undertaking façade inspections during construction.

- Confidence communicating with architects, builders, developers, façade contractors and other consultants.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to prepare clear, professional technical reports.

- A practical understanding of buildability, installation and construction, rather than approaching façade engineering purely from a theoretical perspective.

- A current Australian driver's licence.

CPEng, NER and/or NSW Professional Engineer / Design Practitioner registration will be highly regarded for senior candidates but are not essential.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is technically curious, takes pride in their engineering, enjoys solving complex façade problems and wants greater responsibility as their career develops.

- Working within a smaller consultancy and looking for exposure to larger, more complex and architecturally challenging projects.

- An experienced façade engineer looking for the opportunity to lead projects and play an important role in the continued growth of a façade engineering team.
