Position summary

Join a pioneering battery recycling company and play a key role in supporting the safe and reliable operation of a cutting-edge processing facility in Kewdale. This is a unique opportunity to apply your mechanical trade skills in a growing clean-tech business that is helping recover critical minerals and reduce battery waste.

As a Fitter, you'll be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment, piping systems, and valves, while supporting plant reliability and performance. Working closely with operations and maintenance teams, you'll utilise your troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to minimise downtime and contribute to the success of an innovative and environmentally focused operation.

About the company

At Renewable Metals, we’re pioneering the future of battery recycling. Our mission is easy but powerful: to sustainably recover critical minerals from lithium-ion battery waste. With our world-first alkali recycling process, we can recover over 95% of lithium, nickel, cobalt, copper and manganese across all major lithium-ion battery chemistries. Unlike traditional methods, our technology is cleaner, more cost-effective and better for the planet.

Backed by leading climate-tech investors — the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, Climate Tech Partners, Investible and the Grantham Foundation — as well as grant support from the NSW state and federal governments, we’re scaling up fast. We’re commissioning our large-scale demonstration plant in Perth and progressing an engineering study for a commercial facility in the Hunter region of NSW.

We’re looking for practical, passionate problem-solvers who want to accelerate decarbonisation,

tackle the e-waste challenge and drive real impact. If you thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment and want to help protect the planet with purpose-built innovation, we’d love to hear from you.

About the role

Join a growing clean-tech company at the forefront of battery recycling and critical mineral recovery. Based in Kewdale, you'll play a hands-on role maintaining and repairing plant equipment to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a unique processing facility.

Key responsibilities include:

- Installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment, including piping systems and valves, across the battery recycling plant.
- Performing preventative and breakdown maintenance on plant equipment.
- Troubleshooting mechanical issues and conducting routine equipment inspections.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and plant reliability.
- Working closely with operations and maintenance teams to ensure safe and efficient plant performance.

About the candidate

You are a trade-qualified Fitter with experience working in a processing, manufacturing, chemical, mining, or industrial environment. You're a practical problem-solver who enjoys working hands-on with mechanical equipment and takes pride in maintaining high safety and reliability standards.

To be successful, you'll bring:

- Mechanical fitting experience within an industrial or processing environment.
- Robust fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience maintaining pumps, piping, valves, rotating equipment, and plant machinery.
- A proactive approach to safety and continuous improvement.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Experience in chemical processing, hydrometallurgical plants, or similar operations will be highly regarded.

We welcome applications from candidates with transferable skills from manufacturing, mining, chemical processing, oil & gas, and other industrial environments who are eager to upskill and transition into the growing battery recycling sector.
