About the Role

As a Service Advisor / Customer Service Professional, you will be one of the main faces of Highfields Mechanical and a key point of contact for our customers.

This is not simply a front-counter position. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys dealing with people, understands the automotive industry and has the confidence to discuss repairs, servicing, maintenance and vehicle improvements with customers.

You will be friendly, professional, organised, trustworthy and commercially minded, with the ability to build genuine relationships with customers while identifying opportunities to help them maintain, repair and improve their vehicles.

Good sales skills are important. We don't believe in unnecessary upselling – we believe in understanding what the customer needs, explaining it properly and confidently recommending the right solution.

You will also work closely with our Workshop Foreman and technicians, making communication between the customer, front counter and workshop a critical part of the role.

Key Responsibilities

- Greet customers and understand their vehicle requirements

- Manage bookings, phone calls and customer enquiries

- Prepare and explain service and repair estimates

- Communicate technician findings clearly and professionally

- Gain customer approval for recommended repairs and maintenance

- Identify genuine additional service, repair and 4WD opportunities

- Confidently recommend appropriate products and services

- Keep customers informed throughout the repair process

- Coordinate with the Workshop Foreman and technicians

- Prepare invoices and clearly explain completed work

- Follow up customers and help build long-term relationships

- Contribute positively to the performance,



reputation and culture of the business

About You

You may already be an experienced Automotive Service Advisor, or you may come from an automotive, 4WD, parts, sales or customer service background and be ready for the next step.

Ideally, you will have:

- Automotive industry experience

- A genuine interest in cars and 4WDs

- Excellent customer service and communication skills

- Strong sales and relationship-building ability

- Confidence communicating face-to-face and over the phone

- Good computer and administration skills

- The ability to manage multiple jobs, customers and priorities

- A professional, friendly and positive personality

- Good problem-solving and decision-making skills

- The ability to work closely with technicians and management

- A strong work ethic and willingness to contribute to the team

- A high level of honesty, trustworthiness and reliability

Mechanical knowledge or previous workshop experience would be highly regarded, but you don't necessarily need to be a qualified mechanic.

Attitude is important to us. We are looking for someone who turns up, communicates, follows through on what they say they will do and takes pride in looking after both our customers and their teammates.

The Person We're Looking For

Ultimately, we're looking for a good person who is great with customers and genuinely interested in the automotive industry.

Someone who can have a friendly conversation with a long-term customer, confidently explain a $3,000 repair, talk enthusiastically about a 4WD upgrade, work with a technician to solve a problem and make sure the customer receives the experience they were promised.

You need to enjoy working with people, be comfortable in a busy environment and understand that great customer service, good communication and good sales skills all work together.
