Our client is a purpose-driven not-for-profit organisation located south of the river. With a strong commitment to supporting the community, they are entering an exciting period of growth and development and are looking to establish and strengthen their people function.
Your new role
Reporting to the executive team, this is a unique opportunity for an experienced and hands-on HR professional to build and develop the HR function from the ground up.
Working across both strategic and operational HR activities, you will become the organisation's go-to HR expert, providing practical advice and helping to create a positive and compliant workplace culture.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Establishing and developing the organisation's HR function, implementing fit-for-purpose people practices and frameworks.
- Providing trusted advice and coaching to leaders on employee relations, performance management, workplace investigations, grievances and general people matters.
- Reviewing, refining and enhancing existing HR policies, procedures and documentation to ensure legislative compliance and operational effectiveness.
- Developing foundational people processes across areas such as onboarding, performance development, employee engagement and workforce planning.
- Identifying opportunities to improve HR systems, processes and reporting, helping create scalable and sustainable people practices.
- Leading end-to-end recruitment activities, partnering with hiring managers to attract, select and onboard talent across the organisation.
- Supporting managers through the full employee lifecycle,
providing guidance on employment legislation, awards, policies and best-practice people management.
- Contributing to organisational development, culture initiatives and change management activities that support business objectives.
- Maintaining HR records, employment documentation and employee data in line with compliance requirements.
What you'll need to succeed
- Previous experience in a HR Manager, Senior HR Advisor or HR Business Partner position.
- Strong generalist HR experience across employee relations, recruitment and organisational development.
- Demonstrated experience implementing or improving HR frameworks, processes and policies.
- Sound understanding of Fair Work legislation, employment relations and contemporary HR practices.
- Experience working within the not-for-profit sector will be highly regarded.
- Solid stakeholder engagement skills and the confidence to influence at all levels.
- The ability to work autonomously, prioritise competing demands and balance strategic initiatives with operational responsibilities.
