About the role
The Site HSEQ Officer will be responsible for implementing and maintaining site-level HSEQ policies, procedures, and safe work instructions in line with Group standards, conducting workplace inspections and risk assessments, and leading incident investigations across the Northern Region Galvanizing operations.
Key responsibilities
- Implement and maintain site-level HSEQ policies, procedures, and safe work instructions in line with Group standards
- Conduct regular workplace inspections, hazard identification walks, and risk assessments
- Lead and support incident investigations; ensure root cause analysis and corrective actions are completed on time
- Coordinate and participate in Site Safety Committee meetings, and support Health and Safety Representatives
- Maintain the site emergency response plan and coordinate emergency drills and exercises
- Implement site environmental procedures; monitor and report environmental performance data (waste, energy, spills)
- Support the site Quality Management System, internal audits, and non-conformance/corrective action processes
- Coordinate and deliver site-based HSEQ inductions and ongoing training for employees and contractors
- Prepare for and support external compliance audits, regulatory inspections, and certification surveillance visits
- Report regularly to the Group HSEQ Manager and Site General Manager, escalating responsible safety concerns promptly
About you
- 3–5 years' experience in an HSEQ role within a manufacturing, industrial, or similar high-risk environment
- Working knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, environmental regulations, and quality management principles
- Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and HSEQ audits
- Demonstrated ability to deliver HSEQ training and toolbox talks to a diverse workforce
- Strong communication skills; able to engage credibly with operational teams and management
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable using HSEQ management software and reporting systems
- Comfortable navigating a dual reporting structure with professionalism and transparency
- A proactive, visible presence on the shop floor
- Current Australian Driver's Licence and willingness to travel regularly between sites
