As a Support Worker with Shining Star, you will support clients to live as independently and confidently as possible. You will provide person-centred support based on each client's individual needs, preferences and goals.
Key responsibilities
- Providing compassionate and respectful one-on-one support
- Assisting clients with daily living activities and personal care where required
- Supporting clients with community access, appointments and social activities
- Assisting with shopping, meal preparation and household tasks
- Encouraging independence and supporting clients to achieve their personal goals
- Providing companionship and emotional support
- Following individual support plans and workplace procedures
- Maintaining accurate and professional documentation
- Promoting the safety, dignity, rights and wellbeing of every client
- Communicating effectively with clients, families and other support professionals
About you
- Caring, patient and compassionate
- Reliable, punctual and professional
- Respectful of people from diverse backgrounds
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Confident communicating with clients, families and other professionals
- Flexible and willing to support clients with different needs
- Passionate about making a positive difference in people's lives
- Previous experience in disability, aged care, community services or support work is highly regarded
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current Working with Children Check, where applicable
- Current First Aid and CPR
- Current driver's licence and reliable vehicle
