Are you a strategic engineering leader with a passion for delivering major renewable energy and infrastructure projects?
DTI is seeking a highly experienced and driven Electrical Design Manager to lead, manage, and coordinate all electrical engineering and design activities across our tenders, projects, and operational support functions.
In this critical leadership role, you will be at the forefront of the energy transition, focusing heavily on our growing portfolio of utility-scale solar farms, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). You will act as the technical authority across multidisciplinary project teams, managing both internal engineering resources and external design consultants to ensure the seamless integration of electrical systems into our overall project delivery.
Your responsibilities,
- Provide Technical Leadership: Guide internal electrical engineering teams and external consultants, ensuring design programs, resources, and deliverables align with project and business goals across utility-scale renewables.
- End-to-End Design Management: Oversee electrical design activities from concept through to detailed design, verification, validation, and construction support for solar, and BESS projects.
- Ensure Integration: Work closely with civil, structural, mechanical, and construction delivery teams to drive constructability, maintainability, and optimal whole-of-life asset outcomes.
- Drive Governance & Assurance: Take ownership of design assurance, technical governance, configuration management,
engineering change control, design risk management, and technical compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Implement Standards: Enforce engineering standards, technical procedures, design reviews, technical audits, and assurance processes, ensuring all designs are safe, compliant, and cost-effective.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring a proven track record of managing technical risk and delivering successful outcomes in complex project environments.
Your Experience:
- Minimum 12 years post-graduate electrical engineering experience.
- Minimum 5 years in a senior electrical design leadership or management role.
- Extensive experience delivering major infrastructure projects, with a specific focus on utility-scale solar farms, wind farms, and BESS, alongside transmission, distribution, or utilities.
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary design teams, engineering consultants, engineering interfaces, and stakeholder expectations.
- Strong understanding of design development through all project delivery phases, from concept to commissioning.
Your Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (or equivalent recognized qualification).
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or eligibility to obtain chartership (preferred).
- RPEQ, NER, or equivalent registration (desirable).
- Demonstrated understanding of Australian Standards, Network Service Provider requirements, and electrical compliance frameworks.
- Formal Project Management qualification (desirable).
