Supervisor Reticulation and Mowing (Ref: 1243)

About the position:

The Supervisor Reticulation and Mowing is responsible for providing cost effective operational supervision, direction, maintenance and coordination of Parks and Reserves in relation to turf maintenance and reticulation. This position will ensure that all works are undertaken efficiently and economically, in accordance with the City’s specified standards and established levels of service, while operating within the branch’s budget to maximise service delivery to the community.

This role is offered on a 9-day fortnight, giving you every second Friday off to recharge, plan adventures, or enjoy more time doing what matters to you.

Key accountabilities:

- Provide leadership and supervision to ensure Parks and Reserves activities are planned and completed effectively and safely, on a forward program basis, to the City’s defined standards, within agreed timeframes.

- Actively mentor and train all team members in relevant City policies, procedures and systems to support in closing knowledge and skills gaps.

- Liaise with managers, coordinators, facilitators and other department employees and external agencies, businesses and the public as required to ensure that the City provides quality Parks and Reserves.

- Coordinate material, service supply, plant and equipment requirements and other resources required to undertake Parks and Reserves maintenance projects and works.

Position requirements:





The successful applicant will ideally hold a qualification in Sports Turf Management, Horticulture or a related field, or have substantial experience in reticulation and mowing associated with parks and open space in lieu of a formal qualification. Additionally, they will have demonstrated experience supervising teams and contractors, with the ability to deliver services within program budgets.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits:

A salary ranging from $92,692 per annum to $104,203 per annum will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.

i. Tertiary Qualification in Sports Turf Management, Horticulture or related field and relevant experience or lesser qualification with significant experience

ii. Demonstrated experience in leading and supervising a diverse team with ability to train, mentor and coach employees

iii. Sound knowledge of turf maintenance and sports turf management, with experience in maintaining high-quality turf surfaces through effective irrigation, nutrition, pest management, renovation programs, and asset maintenance

iv. Comprehensive ability to plan and implement work tasks as per annual work program to ensure timely actions in accordance with defined work standards, with the ability to solve common or on the job problems

v. Sound computer skills with demonstrated competence in MS Office Applications and the ability to learn new software programs
