About the role
Reporting to the Clinical Operations Manager, the Residential Care Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, coordination and delivery of high-quality clinical care and resident services within the residential aged care facility. The position provides strong operational and clinical leadership to ensure residents receive protected, person-centred, evidence-based care that promotes dignity, choice, independence and quality of life.
The Residential Care Manager has direct leadership and accountability for the nursing and care team, fostering a positive and collaborative workforce. This includes providing direction, supervision and mentoring to staff to ensure that they are appropriately supported to deliver care in accordance with residents' needs, Toosey's clinical governance policies, professional standards and the Strengthened Aged Care Standards.
Working collaboratively with residents, their families, allied health professionals, medical practitioners and other key stakeholders, the Residential Care Manager ensures best practice care planning, clinical governance, risk management and continuous improvement is embedded in the service provided.
The role is accountable for maintaining high standards of clinical care, documentation, medication management, infection prevention and control, incident management, compliance and quality outcomes.
As a member of the Management Team, the Residential Care Manager contributes to organisational leadership, reform readiness and the delivery of Toosey's Strategic Plan 2024–2029.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain oversight of high-quality clinical care that is delivered to residents in accordance with the Aged Care Act and Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards and Toosey policies and procedures
- Provide leadership and oversight of all care delivered to residents, ensuring that it has the residents at the center of all care decisions
- Ensure incidents, hazards, near misses and identified risks are appropriately reported, managed and escalated, with appropriate corrective and preventative actions implemented and monitored.
- Participate in internal and external audits, accreditation activities and regulatory reviews
- Provide clinical leadership and support to the nursing and care team in the management of Toosey residents (including respite and sub-acute medical beds)
About you
- You are a Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration, minimum 5 years
- Proven leadership in an Aged Care Facility in a same or similar role, minimum 2 years
- Knowledge of the Aged Care Act 2024 and Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards
- Highly developed communication, relationship management and problem-solving skills
- Current Australian National Police Check that meets the requirements of the Aged Care Act
- Familiarity with aged care information systems and digital tools (desirable)
