HR Manager - Food Distribution | Part-Time

Are you an experienced HR Manager who enjoys working autonomously, partnering directly with business owners and bringing structure to a fast-paced operational environment?

We're partnering with an established, family-owned food distribution business to recruit a permanent, part-time HR Manager. This is a broad, hands-on generalist role supporting a workforce of approximately 300 employees across corporate and shift-based operational teams.

Working three days per week and reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll have significant autonomy to strengthen the HR function, improve people processes and provide practical advice across a busy, evolving business.

The Role

Working closely with the Managing Director and wider leadership team, you will:

- Lead the day-to-day HR function across a diverse white and blue-collar workforce
- Formalise and improve onboarding, induction and offboarding processes
- Lead KPI and performance review processes and coach managers through performance conversations
- Manage employee relations matters including disputes, performance, workers' compensation, return-to-work and unfair dismissal matters
- Provide pragmatic advice on when ER matters can be managed internally and when external legal support is required
- Ensure ongoing Award compliance across a multi-shift workforce and monitor employment and pay practices
- Support Enterprise Agreement reviews and negotiations
- Develop and maintain position descriptions, organisational charts and reporting structures
- Oversee payroll compliance and reporting in partnership with the payroll function




- Provide practical HR advice and operational support to leaders across the business
- Build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation, from senior leadership through to operational employees
- Maintain a visible presence across the workforce, including occasional evening visits to support employees working later shifts

About You

You will bring:

- Proven experience as an HR Manager, People & Culture Manager or senior HR generalist
- Strong HR experience within a blue-collar, operational or shift-based environment
- Strong employee relations and industrial relations capability, including Award interpretation and workplace compliance
- Experience supporting multi-shift workforces and employees across different visa arrangements
- Confidence managing workers' compensation, return-to-work and complex employee matters
- Experience supporting Enterprise Agreement processes will be highly regarded
- Robust commercial judgement and the confidence to operate autonomously as the senior HR contact within the business
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build credibility with stakeholders at every level of an organisation
- A practical, approachable and hands-on working style suited to a fast-moving family business
- A demonstrated track record of success and stability in previous positions
