- Salary commensurate with experience: $85,779 - $94,707 per annum plus super

The role We are seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable/ Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team and play a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial processing across the CERA Group, including Centre for Eye Research Australia, CERA Foundation and Cerulea.

This is a varied role combining end-to-end Accounts Receivable responsibilities with key Assistant Accountant functions. You will manage invoicing, donation and bequest processing, debtor management, collections and bank reconciliations, while also supporting general accounting activities including journals, accruals, fixed assets, leases and supplier payment runs.

Working within a small and collaborative Finance team, you will also provide support across Accounts Payable and shared finance processes, including maintaining the finance inbox and providing team coverage when required.

This role would suit a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys variety, can work independently, builds positive relationships with stakeholders and is committed to providing a high level of service.

Your skills and experience

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical skills with a proactive, customer-focused approach. You'll bring:

- Demonstrated experience in Accounts Receivable and debt collection, with a strong understanding of end-to-end receivables processes.
- A tertiary qualification in Accounting or Business.



Progress towards CA/CPA qualifications will be highly regarded.
- Confidence working with financial systems and reconciling bank accounts, with TechnologyOne experience an advantage.
- Sound understanding of GST and general accounting principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate discrepancies and identify practical solutions.
- The ability to effectively manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
- Excellent communication skills and a professional approach, with the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to improving processes and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
- A high degree of professionalism and discretion when dealing with confidential financial and organisational information.

We are an independent Medical Research Institute closely affiliated with the University of Melbourne within the discipline of ophthalmology in the Department of Surgery, Melbourne Medical School.
