About the Firm
We are partnering with a premier global proprietary trading and market-making firm known for its cutting-edge technology, quantitative strategies, and fast-paced environment. As their business continues to scale across the Asia-Pacific region, they are seeking a highly capable tax professional to own and drive their ANZ tax function while contributing to broader regional APAC tax initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Tax Compliance:
Manage direct and indirect tax compliance across APAC jurisdictions, including corporate income tax, GST/VAT, withholding tax, and local tax filings.
- Advisor & Audit Management:
Coordinate with external tax advisors to prepare and review filings, and manage responses to tax authority audits and inquiries.
- Transfer Pricing & International Tax:
Support the implementation, documentation, and compliance of transfer pricing policies across APAC entities; support external auditors on tax and TP matters.
- Planning & Research:
Research complex tax issues, evaluate new legislation, and partner with Finance to ensure appropriate tax treatment of business activities.
- Provisions & Controls:
Assist with tax provisions and deferred tax calculations under local requirements, while identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls, and automation.
- Regional Collaboration:
Monitor regional tax developments and collaborate with cross-functional teams on new business initiatives and operational changes throughout APAC.
Qualities That Make Great Candidates
- Experience:
At least 4 years of tax experience with significant exposure to APAC tax matters.
Experience preparing or reviewing Australian corporate income tax returns and indirect tax filings is required.
- Education & Certifications:
BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA, CA, CTA, or Master's in Taxation preferred.
- Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of transfer pricing principles and international tax concepts.
Preferred experience in APAC indirect taxes (GST/VAT), cross-border transactions, transfer pricing, and tax technology/automation.
- Core Skills:
Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
- Communication & Workstyle:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain complex tax concepts to non-tax stakeholders. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced workplace, and handle confidential information with high integrity.
