Youth AOD Counsellor & Case Manager

Lithgow | 30.4 hours per week | Part-Time

$88,109 - $94,828 per annum (pro rata) + Superannuation + Salary Packaging Benefits

We're looking for a passionate Youth AOD Counsellor to join our Dianella Lithgow Youth Program and help young people build healthier, more positive futures.

This is an opportunity to do meaningful work every day, supporting young people aged 12 to 24 as they navigate alcohol and other drug challenges, strengthen coping skills and develop pathways towards improved wellbeing.

No two days are the same. You'll build genuine connections with young people, deliver evidence-based interventions and work alongside families, schools and community services to help young people access the support they need, when they need it most.

About the Dianella Lithgow Youth Program The Dianella Lithgow Youth Program provides free, non-residential alcohol and other drug support for young people aged 12 to 24 living in Lithgow and surrounding communities.

The program delivers flexible, youth-focused support through:

- Individual counselling and therapeutic interventions
- Assessment and treatment planning
- Outreach support across the local region
- Group programs and education sessions
- Early intervention and harm minimisation approaches
- Family and community engagement
- Referral and care coordination with local services

Our focus is on helping young people explore their relationship with alcohol and other drugs, build resilience and develop the skills needed to thrive.

About the Role

As the Youth AOD Counsellor, you will provide assessment, counselling and recovery-focused support to young people experiencing alcohol and other drug challenges.

Working as part of a collaborative and experienced team, you will support young people to identify strengths, develop goals and create meaningful change in their lives.





Key responsibilities include

- Providing evidence-based assessment, counselling and support services.
- Developing, implementing and reviewing individual treatment plans.
- Facilitating individual and group-based interventions.
- Supporting young people to build resilience, coping skills and recovery goals.
- Working collaboratively with families, schools and community stakeholders.
- Building and maintaining referral pathways with local youth services.
- Delivering outreach support across Lithgow and surrounding communities.
- Maintaining accurate case notes, reporting and client records.
- Participating in multidisciplinary case discussions and service development activities.

What We're Looking For You are passionate about supporting young people and committed to making a positive difference in your local community.

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

- Tertiary qualifications in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services or a related discipline.
- Experience working with young people in health, community services, alcohol and other drugs or mental health settings.
- Knowledge of evidence-based assessment, treatment planning and therapeutic interventions.
- Strong ability to engage and build rapport with young people from diverse backgrounds.
- Understanding of culturally safe and inclusive practice.
- Experience working with young people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, CALD and LGBTQIA+ communities.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build local partnerships.
- Sound computer skills and experience maintaining accurate client records.
- Emotional maturity, resilience and a genuine passion for supporting young people.

The successful applicant will be required to hold:
- A current Australian Driver Licence.
- A current NSW Working With Children Check (WWCC).
- The ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory National Police Check.
