We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Supervisor to lead asbestos and hazardous-material remediation works in Wagga Wagga.
Key responsibilities include
ASBESTOS SUPERVISOR
Plan, coordinate and supervise asbestos removal activities to ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project requirements, legislation, codes of practice and company procedures.
- Review the asbestos register, survey information, scope of works and site conditions, and ensure the asbestos removal control plan and relevant safe work method statements are implemented.
- Lead site establishment, containment, isolation, negative-pressure, decontamination and access-control arrangements appropriate to the class of removal work.
- Conduct pre-starts, toolbox talks, task briefings and ongoing supervision, ensuring workers understand the hazards, controls and work sequence.
- Verify worker licences, competencies, fit testing, personal protective equipment and respiratory protective equipment before work commences.
- Monitor removal methods and control measures, stop work where conditions are unsafe or outside the approved scope, and escalate changes promptly.
- Coordinate air monitoring, inspections and clearance activities with competent persons and licensed asbestos assessors where required.
- Ensure asbestos waste is correctly contained, labelled, tracked, transported and disposed of at authorised facilities.
- Maintain accurate site records, including inductions, daily diaries, inspections, waste documentation, incidents, variations and completion records.
- Liaise professionally with clients, subcontractors, consultants and project management personnel, and support the timely resolution of site issues.
You will have suitable experience in a similar role, along with the following skills:
- Current asbestos removal supervisor qualification and Class A or Class B asbestos removal licence relevant to the work being supervised
- Construction Industry White Card and any other required site licences or competencies
- Demonstrated experience supervising asbestos or hazardous-material remediation projects
- Robust knowledge of asbestos removal control plans, containment, decontamination, air monitoring, clearance and waste requirements
- Proven ability to lead teams, enforce safety standards and make sound decisions in changing site conditions
- Strong planning, record-keeping, communication and stakeholder-management skills
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage programme, quality and compliance obligations
- Ability to undertake site work and wear respiratory protective equipment when required
